Accommodation

Edinburgh

We decided that we would stay in a self catering apartment in Edinburgh so that we could shop locally and cook for ourselves. Our choice was to stay in the old section of Edinburgh which was really worth it. There is a bus from the airport to Waverley station and a short walk up a steep hill to where we stayed. From there we could walk around and the closest bus stop was just over a block away. Our apartment had everything we needed – a kitchen, lounge (pull out bed and fold away table), a bathroom and a bedroom. It takes a bit of getting used to the push through showers but it is not something to get too uptight about.

We were extremely fortunate with our RCI accommodation at the Hilton Craigendarroch. Our two story lodge had every amenity you could imagine. We entered into a vestibule that contained a drying cupboard and then entered into the lobby where there was a cupboard for jackets. Our bedroom was off this lobby and included a dressing room and a large bathroom that had a spa bath, two basins and a heated towel rail. Upstairs led to a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher. The dining room included an 8 seater table, as well as a booze cabinet with crystal glasses. The lounge was comfortable and had a fold away double bed and led onto a balcony. A second bedroom upstairs had twin beds and there was a separate bathroom with shower and sauna. We had a washing machine which meant I could do laundry.

We booked this through our time share with RCI. Contact them on +44 (0) 1339 755 858 or the wesbite.

Isle of Skye – Portree

We decided to stay in a bed and breakfast – Ben Tianavaig – and spent two nights in a well appointed room. Breakfasts were amazing and we could walk around Portree to the restaurants and pubs.  If you go there, please tell Charlotte we sent you!
